Job Description

Position Overview:

The Louisiana SPCA (LASPCA) is seeking an experienced and detailoriented Intake and Case Supervisor to oversee critical intakerelated functions including public records requests lost and found animals possible owned animals and animal control case management. This role is essential in managing the intake process and ensuring that all cases are handled efficiently ethically and in compliance with local and state regulations. The Intake Supervisor will lead a team of intake staff collaborate with various departments and ensure all necessary records are maintained accurately.


Key Responsibilities:


LMA 20:

Team Leadership: Lead and supervise the intake team providing guidance training and support to staff. Monitor workloads and provide direction to ensure efficient and effective case management and documentation. Conduct performance reviews and offer ongoing professional development opportunities for staff. Recruit and retain appropriate staff.

RecordKeeping & Documentation: Ensure all intake records are maintained accurately and securely including public records requests dangerous dog inspections lost and found reports and animal control cases. Maintain uptodate case files and provide reports on case outcomes to management.

Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with other departments including animal care behavior and legal teams to ensure proper handling and outcomes of intake cases. Communicate effectively with the public law enforcement and other stakeholders regarding intake policies and procedures.

Compliance & Protocol Development: Develop and implement protocols and best practices for the intake process ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations. Stay current on changes in animal control ordinances and public records law ensuring the team remains informed.


Case Management 45:

Investigation & Documentation: Reviewing and managing cases related to animal abuse neglect stray animals and violations of local ordinances.

Tracking Progress: Maintaining case files ensuring that information is accurately recorded and updated and monitoring the status of ongoing investigations.

Coordination with Law Enforcement: Collaborating with local law enforcement or legal teams to handle cases related to animal cruelty or violations.

Public Interaction: Interacting with the public to provide updates on the status of cases explain legal procedures and offer guidance on how to address specific animalrelated concerns.

Dangerous Dog Inspections: Supervise the intake and investigation process for dangerous dog cases ensuring compliance with local ordinances and safety protocols. Coordinate inspections and work closely with law enforcement and animal control officers to evaluate risks and make recommendations.

Animal Control Case Management: Oversee the intake and case management process for animal control cases including investigating and documenting complaints coordinating followups and ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations. Work closely with law enforcement and animal control officers to manage cases involving cruelty neglect or ordinance violations.


Court Records 10:

Court Case Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of legal documents evidence and testimonies related to court cases involving animal violations or cruelty

Gathering records from investigations and ensuring all required documentation is organized and accessible.

Legal Documentation: Filing necessary paperwork including citations notices and summonses. Ensuring compliance with legal standards for animalrelated cases.

Court Liaison: Representing the department in court or coordinating with legal teams prosecutors and judges regarding the outcome of animalrelated cases.

Record Keeping: Maintaining and safeguarding court records related to animal control cases including keeping detailed logs of court decisions fines and penalties. Ensuring that case records are uptodate and accessible.

Public Records Requests: Oversee and manage the processing of public records requests related to animal control cases incidents and other shelterrelated documentation.


Animal Population 25:

Lost and Found: Manage the lost and found animal program ensuring animals are quickly matched with their owners. Supervise intake staff in maintaining accurate records of lost and found animals facilitating reunions and ensuring followup communications.

Possibly Owned Animals: Supervise intake of animals suspected to be owned but not yet reclaimed. Ensure proper documentation investigation and support for owners or potential owners looking to reclaim their pets.

Owner surrender management: Manage the processing of animals from the public being surrendered to shelter care.



Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Animal Science Criminal Justice Public Administration or a related field or equivalent work experience in animal welfare or law enforcement.

35 years of experience in animal intake case management or a related field with at least 12 years in a supervisory role.

Knowledge of animal control laws dangerous dog ordinances and public records laws.

Strong attention to detail organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to interact effectively with staff the public law enforcement and legal teams.

Ability to work under pressure make informed decisions and handle sensitive cases involving the safety and wellbeing of animals.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with shelter management software (e.g. PetPoint Shelterluv) is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with law enforcement or in a legal environment.

Familiarity with animal welfare best practices and animal behavior.

Knowledge of Louisiana state and local animal control regulations.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds; push and pull heavy objects; bend twist reach; perform strenuous physical activities including frequent walking and running standing bending and stooping.

Should not be allergic to animals or have nut allergies; must be able to work around all animals.

Working Conditions:

Flexibility to work evenings weekends and holidays as required.

Potentially subject to animal bites and scratches.

Works in an area with a high noise level.

Must be able to work with industrial strength cleaners and disinfectants.

Compensation:

$19.00$26.00/hr. based on experience
