POSITION SUMMARY:
To use instructional leadership supervisory and administrative skills to assist the elementary principal to promote and advance the educational development of students and staff; to participate in responsibilities such as: leading directing counseling and supervising a variety of personnel and programs; creating effective parent teacher child communications supporting encouraging mentoring and evaluating staff; fostering teamwork between teachers and among staff and parents; actively participating in the further development of the districts multitiered systems of support continued development of Social Emotional Learning and upholding the districts Code of Character Conduct and Support; and to act in the capacity of the Principal during their absences from the building.

CERTIFICATES LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS:
Current and valid DESE license in Principal/Assistant Principal grades 16 and SEI Endorsement for Administrators. Please note that licensure requirements are subject to change at the discretion of DESE.
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Five 5 years of teaching experience in a public school setting and at least three years of administrative experience. Said administrative experience shall include at a minimum supervision and evaluation of staff and professional development work. Masters Degree in education preferred. Bilingual (Portuguese and/or Spanish) skills preferred.

Flexibility will be essential. Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population. Bilingual (Portuguese and/or Spanish) skills preferred. Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional and technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of staff parents and the general public. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Demonstrates awareness of all district requirements and policies. Ability to use a personal computer and related software. Knowledge of child growth and development and how it affects learning. Experience in teaching and learning processes. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in a group or team environment.

Assists in the supervision and evaluation of Teachers Aides and Assistant Teachers per the Principals direction.
