Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree in information technology or security finance business administration or related field;
Five years experience in financial institution Information Security IT Governance and Strategy or IT Auditing;
Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a casebycase basis.
Competencies:
Knowledge of:
Laws rules regulations IT security standards and IT governance processes applicable to the financial services industry;
FFIEC IT guidance and IT Sound Practices;
Emerging technologies threats/vulnerabilities and risk management practices /techniques and its implications to the financial institutions sector.
Ability to:
Analyze data and records of financial institutions and identify areas of increased risk control weaknesses material deficiencies and violations of state and federal laws and regulations;
Determine noncompliance with internal policies and enforcing governing laws;
Present concise comprehensive and accurate findings through both written products and oral presentations;
Recommend corrective actions and review and monitor these actions;
Maintain confidentiality and discretion in the course of conducting business;
Exercise sound judgment and work independently or in a team environment;
Apply knowledge of the financial industry sound practices banking principles regulations and examination procedures to the supervision of a cross section of institutions; mine existing information for crossinstitutional themes and issues to provide insight regarding institutions industry practices and emerging risks that are forwardlooking and consistent with strategic concerns;
Stay abreast of relevant regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on banks payments settlement and clearing activities and IT risks associated with the areas of responsibility.

What does the Division do
The Division of Banking and Financial Institutions is responsible for the supervision regulation and examination of statechartered depository financial institutions which include banks trust companies mutual savings and loan associations and credit unions; and nondepository entities which include consumer loan companies sales finance companies deferred deposit lenders escrow businesses mortgage brokers mortgage lenders mortgage servicers and mortgage loan originators.
The Divisions mission is to protect Montana citizens by regulating statechartered and licensed financial institutions under its supervision. The Division is committed to preserve and promote sound and constructive competition among financial institutions; the dual federal and state banking system and the security of deposits. The Division seeks regulatory coordination and cooperation as well as regulatory parity among financial services institutions while encouraging diversity in financial products and services.
What is this career opportunity
1. Performing examinations of both bank and nonbank financial institutions in accordance with established guidelines. This may include completing the InTREx program independently or in conjunction with other state or federal regulatory agencies.
2. Preparing accurate welldocumented analyses of IT risk and communicating orally and in writing examination findings to management.
3. Providing guidance to the Division on relative IT risk in the financial services sector.
