Now a public company Rigetti is looking to expand its Engineering Operations team through the addition of an experienced Microwave and Cryogenic Test Engineer.
As a Microwave and Cryogenics Test Engineer at our Fremont CA quantum computing FAB and R&D facility you will work alongside a team of physicists engineers and technicians to support the development of leadingedge quantum computing technologies. Your responsibilities will include assembling and testing advanced RF assemblies operating and debugging cryogenic systems developing and maintaining best practices and standard operating procedures and technical troubleshooting. You will utilize advanced electronic test equipment to characterize custom RF hardware in partnership with engineers from multiple disciplines and you will play a key role in advancing Rigettis best practices around quantum hardware testing and deployment.
The ideal candidate will have performed a handson function with interdisciplinary advanced technology teams at industryleading companies academic labs or similar.

What Youll Be Doing
- Assemble validate and install complex electromechanical cryogenic vacuum and RF systems with superb attention to detail
- Test and debug custom control systems in the form of validation testing on advanced RF components using electronic equipment such as network analyzers DMMs and tools developed inhouse
- Troubleshoot service and maintain cryogenic equipment (scroll pumps turbo pumps cryo compressors high vacuum valves/cold traps) including helium leak test procedures pump rebuilds and thermal system management
- Participate in test plan development and in support of nextgeneration RF hardware
- Support cryogenic systems oncall in rotation with other members of the Engineering Operations team
- Prepare inspect and package quantum chip assemblies for testing
- Follow established documents/procedures and create/adapt them as needed
- Read and understand CAD drawings and engineering specifications
- Perform equipment maintenance following standard procedures
What You Bring to the Table
- BS degree or equivalent in RF Electrical Engineering Physics or equivalent industrial or military experience
- 5 years of relevant handson experience ideally in a hightech R&D environment
- Fluency with statistical methods for Test (Six Sigma DOE simulation etc.
- Experience working with and maintaining large equipment of high availability systems
- Proficiency with a variety of generalpurpose electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes network analyzers multimeters dc power supplies etc..
- Experience assembling servicing and maintaining scientific instruments and/or complex electromechanical assemblies
- Experience with dilution refrigerators or other cryogenic systems a strong plus
- Programming experience in Python or related scripting languages is a strong plus
- Experience with industrial lab equipment including vacuum plumbing P&ID and standard fittings and methods
- Experience communicating with external vendors
- Excellent communication documentation and troubleshooting skills
$115000 $140000 a year
Base Salary
Rigetti complies with all local and state regulations in regards to displaying salary ranges. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates relevant work experience skills and geographic location.
