The Division of Early Childhood (DEC) is seeking to hire a dynamic organized and detailedoriented Family Services Specialist. DEC is one of six divisions within the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS). DEC serves to strengthen and centralize Child Care Early Intervention Home Visiting and Migrant and Seasonal Head Start within IDHS. The DEC vision is for Illinois pregnant persons young children and families to have the supports they need to achieve their full potential. The DEC mission is to enhance equitable access to Child Care Home Visiting and Early Intervention programs and services that support whole child development. Serves as the Family Services Specialist.
Oversees and facilitates collaborative relationship building with families family partnership agreements followup services case management and goal setting of program and families.
Provides direction and support to Family Advocates parents boards of directors and other stakeholders to provide feedback training and supervision on effective intervention and supportive strategies.
Oversees the selection of parent curriculum and monitors its implementation.
Translates and interprets both orally and in writing for Spanishspeaking clients regarding services available.
Initiates Agreements (e.g. Intergovernmental and/or Data Sharing) and contracts with other state and regional agencies for provision of services via Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA) mandates.
Participates in training as necessary to strengthen both staff and the Division.
Performs other duties as requested or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Requires knowledge skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four 4 years of college preferably with courses in business or public administration.
Requires one 1 year of responsible administrative experience in a public or business organizationOR completion of an agency approved professional management training program.
Requires ability to speak and write Spanish at a colloquial skill level.
Of the one 1)year of responsible administrative experience requires one 1 year of experience working with seasonal migrants and their family members.
One 1 year of experience working with seasonal migrants and their family members.
Two 2 years of professional experience in relationship building community organizing parent organizing or case management related to a human services program.
Two 2 years of professional experience developing and implementing trainings for families staff service providers or boards of directors of human services programs.
Two 2 years of professional experience developing of spreadsheets queries and reports using standard office software packages including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
Two 2 years of professional experience monitoring and analyzing data through a data management system.
Two 2 years of professional experience utilizing the principles and practices of public and business administration.
Requires ability to travel statewide including overnight stays.
Requires basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
