Falk College seeks a parttime instructor to teach SWK 626 M702 Persons in Social Contexts 3 credits) in the Fall 2024 08/19/202412/10/2024 semester. Course Description: Persons in Social Context focuses on an assessment of behavior of diverse individuals groups and social systems. The course applies concepts from the biological behavioral and social sciences in identifying and understanding forms and causes of human behavior. Course Overview: Persons in Social Context is a broadbased foundation course which encourages students to understand that human behaviorindividual family group or in larger communitiesis influenced by a wide array of factors. Sociological theories of institutions and psychological theories of behavior are explored separately and are integrated into biopsychosocialspiritual and ecologicalsystemic models. Persons in Social Context uses biological psychological and sociocultural content to analyze human behavior development and the functioning of social systems. Theoretical conceptualization is within a developmental socioecological perspective on the reciprocal relationship of persons and social contexts. The course is designed to sharpen the social work students capacity to understand and to systematically explain human behavior and social events they will face in human service positions and to consider the pragmatic political and ethical dimensions of these explanations. Responsibilities
Developing and/or updating a class syllabus Preparation of lectures projects or other student assignments Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course Meeting all designated class periods Submitting completed midsemester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner Completion and submission of CSWE competencybased student outcomes for department assessment/accreditation Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty
Qualifications
MSW with previous online graduatelevel social work teaching experience preferred. Candidate must have 2 years postmasters experience. Must be able to teach online.
