Our Opportunity:
Chewy is looking for a Corporate Counsel Employment Law to join our Legal Team based in Minneapolis MN! This position is an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to join a fastpaced dynamic Legal Department supporting Chewys Corporate and Healthcare teams with respect to employment and labor law.
The successful candidate will be a strategic advisor and handson problem solver providing practical businessoriented daytoday employment law advice and counseling to HR professionals and business managers regarding Corporate Customer Care and Pharmacy employees. This position requires a proactive approach and close collaboration with human resources and other business stakeholders and the other attorneys in the Legal Department.
What Youll Do:
- Partner with HR professionals and other business stakeholders to act as a trusted legal adviser providing advice and counseling on multijurisdictional employment laws including but not limited to wage/hour compliance; leaves of absence and accommodations; drug testing and background screenings; discrimination; and retaliation.
- Advise HR professionals on emerging legislative and regulatory changes affecting employment and labor obligations in multijurisdictional operations.
- Review and revise internal policies and procedures to ensure multijurisdictional regulatory compliance.
- Develop and deliver proactive training to business leaders on a wide variety of employment law matters.
- Provide legal representation and/or supervise outside counsel regarding employment litigation government administrative agency charges audits and investigations (e.g. EEOC DOL OSHA and state/local agencies) as well as attorney demand letters and claims involving employmentrelated concerns.
- Draft and negotiate employmentrelated documents including separation agreements and restrictive covenant agreements.
- Partner with and advise HR professionals regarding internal investigations as well as compensation ERISA and immigration matters.
What Youll Need:
- JD from an accredited school with strong academic credentials.
- Minimum 6 years experience practicing employment law inhouse and/or with a national or regional law firm.
- Significant experience in identifying employment law risks and formulating strategies regarding same as well as in providing practical timely and solutionoriented advice and counseling to business clients at various levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate crossfunctionally and develop practical solutions that mitigate legal risks and align with business objectives.
- Selfmotivated able to work with minimal supervision and assume significant responsibility in keeping with the level of experience in employment law.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills. This position requires fastpaced multitasking and the ability to prioritize problemsolve and manage multiple issues involving business partners in various locations.
- Active license to practice law in at least one state and ability to become licensed as inhouse counsel in Florida.
- Candidate should possess empathy excellent professional judgment and a good sense of humor.
- The position may require occasional travel.
