Blessey Marine Services Inc. owns and operates one of the youngest multifaceted inland tank barge and vessel fleets in the United States.
We are in search of a IT Support Engineer for our Harahan LA location.
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Handlesdaytoday IT support and problem solving primarily on Blessey Marines fleetof motor vessels and also on inhouse users computers voice & datasystems and marine electronics by performing the following duties:
SUPERVISION:
Reportsto: IT AssistantManager
Supervises: This position has nosupervisory responsibilities.
Provideworld class customer service for our shore and vessel staff at BMS.
Provideremote and handson technical support at offices and onboard vessels.
Diagnosecomputer and device problems to determine root cause of malfunction.
Documentall support tasks performed in ConnectWise and internal tools.
PerformLife Cycle management of technology equipment in offices and onboard vessels.
Performgeneral computer/printer/scanners/multifunction device maintenance and repairs.
Maintainnavigational equipment (AIS GPS Compass) and Rose Point on vessels.
Assistin providing network installation maintenance and administration.
Providecellphone and cellular network device hardware and configuration support.
Installtest and configure operating systems and authorized software as required.
Followcompany policy in copying software and documentation.
Assistall other IT teams in performing routine administrative duties as requested.
Receivetest inventory and configure technology hardware for shore and vessels.
Performpreventive maintenance and cleaning of shore and vessel equipment as directed.
Liaisewith vendors to manage equipment RMA/Warranties as needed.
Assistin setting up training and special demonstrations.
Workscheduled OnCall afterhours rotation as assigned to support 24/7/365dayoperations.
Beavailable to potentially travel up to 20 of your scheduled work time.
Supportand/or perform other IT related duties and/or project tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Abilityto read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professionaljournals technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports businesscorrespondence and procedure to effectively present information and respond to questions fromgroups of managers clients customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Abilityto apply concepts such as fractions percentages ratios and proportions topractical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Abilityto define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions inmathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concretevariables.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Thisposition requires driving a vehicle as necessary to travel to vessels runningerrands and to business related outoftown trips will be required on a regular basis. Employee and/or applicant must successfullycomplete a Motor Vehicle History check and possess and maintain a current validdrivers license in their state of residence.
