Job Description

Classified Specialist Maintenance Services/Special Projects Coordinator Papillion La Vista Community Schools

Begins: May 2025

Contract Days: 260 Days

General Description:Directs advises staff and supervises general maintenance functions of the District Maintenance Department and employees. Duties shall be performed in a manner to derive maximum benefit of district funds and resources. Includes supervision of maintenance trades performing repair construction and operations on all facilities within the school district. Responsible for programming and monitoring the district energy management and control systems.

Qualifications:

Education:Associate degree in an engineering discipline construction management or industrial technology

Certification:EPA Refrigerant Type II or Universal & EPA Tools for Schools/Indoor Air Quality

Experience:Five years facilities maintenance and operations with emphasis on HVAC. Three years familiarity and proficiency with Equipment Control Programs.

Other Requirements:Ability to communicate effectively and supervisea staff. Must have a Nebraska drivers license and a good driving record.

Responsibilities:

  1. Dependable and reliable attendance.
  2. Examines district facilities and grounds on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance.
  3. Establishes and recommends priorities on repair projects.
  4. Coordinates and establishes timelines for preventative maintenance emergency repairs and routine checks on all HVAC systems throughout the district.
  5. Develops cost estimates of repair projects in terms of labor material and overhead and provides to Director of Buildings and Grounds.
  6. Assigns work orders and supervises crews of craftspeople for maintenance work such as replacing worn or defective wiring switches faucets plumbing fixtures and repairing fencing grounds ceilings etc.
  7. Develops a system for dealing with emergency and afterhour repair problems. Ability to utilize and operate district mass communication system to recall staff.
  8. Ensures that safety training for all maintenance staff is offered and delivered as required to individuals as needed.
  9. Recruits screens recommends for hiring and evaluates all craftspeople assigned to the maintenance function. Utilizes TalentEd Program for evaluation of craftspeople.
  10. Works with district engineers on renovation and new construction projects for HVAC systems and controls.
  11. Assists in preparing the maintenance budget.
  12. Other duties as assigned.
