Fulltime: 35 hours per week
Fixedterm: until 30 September 2029
The Opportunity:
The BHF Centre of Research Excellence in Edinburgh is funded by a fiveyear award from the British Heart Foundation to accelerate our science. By collaborating across disciplines and institutions we will deliver bold discoveries and foster the next generation of research leaders. We now have a suite of new opportunities in our Centre and are seeking people with the ideas and ambition to drive forward our work.
We seek a senior scientist to plan manage and implement a programme of highquality cardiovascular research funded by the British Heart Foundation Research Excellence and (REA4 award which is positioned to understand and exploit mechanisms of regeneration and repair in cardiac disease. This will involve analysis of multimodal omics data in cardiovascular remodelling and how to manipulate findings and assess therapeutic gain in models of disease (myocardial infarction etc). This role will include management of staff including two postdoctoral bioinformatics posts training and data resources with the aim of providing high level input into the REA4 implementation of a bioinformatics community leading to long term bioinformatics infrastructure and resulting impact through for example publications of research outcomes in high impact journals.
This post is fulltime 35 hours per week); however we are open to considering parttime or flexible working are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a noncontractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular oncampus working.
The salary for this post isper annum.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- Experience and demonstrated success in delivering research project results.
- Experience and achievement in the specialist area reflected in a growing personal research portfolio.
- Extensive experience of developing and applying models techniques and analytical methods as appropriate to answer important questions in cardiovascular research.
- Experience in supervision of researchers (staff and/or students).
