As a key member of our Accounting/Finance team the Senior Accountant will provide expert analytical support and lead critical projects within the department. This role will also support other accounting functions and identify areas for improvement to enhance overall department efficiency. You will gain broad exposure to various accounting functions across the company with involvement in daily monthly and annual financial processes such as closing budgeting inventory management and potentially payroll tax and cost accounting.
Project Leadership: Take ownership of key projects from initiation to completion. This includes establishing project timelines identifying necessary resources and managing all aspects of the project to ensure accuracy and timely .
Departmental Support: Provide backup support across various areas of the accounting department when technical or capacity challenges arise.
MonthEnd & YearEnd Close: Prepare and process monthly and annual financial close activities. This may include the preparation of monthly financial statements for distribution to senior management and ownership.
Account & Activity Analysis: Conduct detailed analyses of accounts and activities ensuring proper preparation of general ledger journal entries.
Reconciliations & Reporting: Maintain and reconcile accounts as part of the monthend and yearend financial closing process.
Audit Support: Prepare audit schedules and ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records for yearend audits.
Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with the preparation of the budget and related financial analysis ensuring alignment with corporate financial goals.
General Ledger Management: Ensure the accurate and timely recording of transactions in the general ledger.
Additional Responsibilities:
Fixed Asset Management: Track and maintain the company s fixed assets.
Cost Accounting: Analyze cost of sales variances create profitability analysis for sales quotes and assess product mix bill of materials and routing.
Tax Filings: Prepare and file corporate sales and use tax property tax and franchise tax returns.
International Support: Assist international divisions with their monthly close process.
Team Support: Provide assistance to general accountants as needed and identify areas for efficiency improvements within the team.
Process Improvement: Help develop and implement process improvements including work instructions to increase departmental effectiveness.
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience with a strong understanding of both routine and complex accounting activities.
Skills:
Indepth knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; experience with Oracle is a plus.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
Additional Requirements:
Willingness to travel as needed to support departmental activities.
