CLASS TITLE: Instructional Specialist
REPORTS TO: Chief Academic Officer
BASICFUNCTION: Provides leadership coaching assistance in the areas related to curriculum instruction and assessment.
REPRESENTATIVEDUTIES:
Assists staff in revising and implementing the curriculum.
Assists staff in analyzing state and local assessments.
Assists staff in designing lessons.
Organizes and conducts staff development activities for school personnel.
Modeling best practices in classrooms.
Assist schools in writing grants.
Performs other duties as may be assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Student Achievement Curriculum Instruction and Assessment or Superintendent.
KNOWLEDGE ANDABILITIES:
Knowledge of:
Kentucky Administrative Regulations governing the assessment of students.
Knowledge of best practice research in instructional areas.
Knowledge of modeling standardsbased curriculum development.
Knowledge of designing and implementing workshops and programs.
Ability to:
Work successfully with people.

To interpret test results and develop instructional strategies to correct weaknesses.
To assist building personnel in incorporating researchbased instructional strategies in to the curriculum to demonstrate increased student learning.
To write distinctly and to organize data and presentations.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
EDUCATION ANDEXPERIENCE:
Holds a Masters Degree and required Kentucky Teaching certificate for the assigned position.
Five 5 years successful teaching experience or state experience.
Demonstrated leadership ability.
Experience in planning developing and conductinginservice programs.
