The Team
Within Upstarts Small Dollar Loans were building an exciting new product bolstering our mission of putting technology to work for everyday Americansnot to fabricate demand or profit from hardship but to empower people with the tools and access they need to anticipate adapt and ultimately to gain control over their financial lives something thats desirable up and down the income spectrum. As a Senior Software Engineer at Upstart focused on Full Stack B2C product development you will build features which engage our borrowers. You will lead projects which align the Upstart Small Dollar Loan strategy. You will help move Upstarts web product forward adding more capabilities to allow all Upstart verticals to build web features. This role will report initially to the VP of Engineering for Small Dollar Loans.
How youll make an impact:
- Build high quality web features for the Small Dollar Loans product to engage and delight our customers
- Lead projects from requirements through design and into the hands of our customers
- Mentor other engineers
- Collaborate with other engineers on developing northstar designs and engineering strategy
- Review code from other engineers within the team and across Upstart
What were looking for:
- Minimum requirements:
- 5 years of experience developing full stack web applications professionally
- Proficiency with either Kotlin Ruby Java or C# and at least one other programming language
- Proficiency with
- Passionate about the enduser experience exhibiting a productoriented mindset
- Depth of experience in software development principals and best practices for creating scalable and maintainable systems
- Proven ability to effectively analyze and solve complex problems
- Preferred qualifications:
- AInative experience leveraging AI tooling to help improve development efficiency processes collaboration or communication
- Experience with and Vercel
- Experience with the Spring Framework
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability for the quality and timely delivery of work
- Ability to thrive both in selfdirected work environments and in collaborative settings contributing positively to team dynamics
- Demonstrated ability to take feedback well and actively incorporate it into work with a desire to continuously improve
Position Location This role is available in the following locations: Remote San Mateo Columbus Austin
Time Zone Requirements This team operates across all U.S. time zones.
Travel Requirements This team has regular onsite collaboration sessions. These occur 3 days per quarter at an Upstart office. If you need to travel to make these meetups Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.

At Upstart your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The anticipated base salary for this position is expected to be within the below range. Your actual base pay will depend on your geographic locationwith our digital first philosophy Upstart uses compensation regions that vary depending on location. Individual pay is also determined by jobrelated skills experience and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
