About Us

Established in 1963 Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast prestressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces the New England region of the United States and Bermuda. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders wall panels complete parking garages hollowcore planking piling and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70000 . in Saint John New Brunswick and 50000 . In Bedford Nova Scotia.

In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components Strescon also operates a 32000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems such as pipe manholes and catchbasins.

Job Summary

This role is responsible for detailing architectural and structural precast concrete elements and precast building layouts. The Precast Detailer works with structural and architectural contract drawings while following the procedures for modeling (class finishes prefix). To be successful in this role one must be able to interpret reinforcing sketches and create accurate drawings (layouts elevations sections and precast members). Communication and collaboration with Project Managers Engineering Shop and Erection is critical to ensure accuracy and to guarantee that each project is completed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

  • Detailing architectural and structural precast concrete members including bridges building and miscellaneous members
  • Create Precast building layouts
  • Working with structural and architectural contract drawings
  • Other duties as assigned.

Technical Requirements

  • PostSecondary education in Civil Architectural Structural or Mechanical Technology is preferred however less education combined with appropriate experience will be taken into consideration
  • Minimum 3 years experience with drafting/detailing and experience using a computerized drafting software package

Business Requirements

  • Ability to work in a steady and even pace to promote accuracy and quality of work
  • High attention to detail
  • Previous experience in the construction industry is an asset
  • Ability to read architectural and structural drawings is a requirement
