Swaniti Initiative is a social enterprise that isworking at the intersection of climate governance and last mile delivery. Webelieve that while the willingness and resources exist there are fundamentalgaps in the within communities that is the biggest crisis in theclimate movement. Accordingly Swaniti works with subnational governments toconduct microplanning exercises with consultations with community and keystakeholders to understand the pathways forward provide technical assistance tosubnational governments to provide support in program implementation andsupport in monitoring and delivery of programs.
PositionOverview
Swaniti Initiative is seeking a Senior Manager forits Just Transition program to lead initiatives aimed at facilitating equitableand inclusive transitions toward a sustainable and lowcarbon economy. Theideal candidate will have a strong background in quantitative and qualitative researchsolid understanding of policy ecosystem program management communityengagement and sustainable development. The incumbent is expected to workcollaboratively and diligently with stakeholders including governmentsindustries parliamentarians labor organizations and communities to ensurethat economic social and environmental justice principles are at theforefront of transition efforts.
1. Research and Technical Expertise
a. Finalize and executeresearch projects to guide policies;
with all theconcerned stakeholders during the finalization of various components related toresearch;
c. Propose new ideas andexecute research requirements as per the needs of the program;
d. Conduct desk reviews andprimary research to synthesize technical information on relevant topics forpolicymakers;
e. Provide technical reviewand feedback on project outputs communications and other documents asrelevant;
f. Conduct a thoroughanalysis of relevant policies programs legislations and environmentalgovernance framework etc.
Design and Management
a. Develop implement andoversee programs promoting just transition principles ensuring alignment withstakeholders interests and organizational goals;
b. Efficiently monitor andmanage budgets and other administrative requirements of the program;
c. Publish periodic reviewsof the programs to internal and external stakeholders.
Advocacy
a. Develop and executeengagement strategies based on programmatic
findings/learnings/recommendationsetc. to engage with decisionmakers the public and other stakeholders forprogressive policymaking;
b. Build and maintain strongand working relationships with key decision makers;
c. Represent theorganization at events/forums/meetings etc. to pursue policy objectives;
d. Organize consultativemeetings events seminars and workshops to drive analytical and policy work ofthe Program.
a. Contribute to thedevelopment of proposals reports concept notes and research briefs fororganizational goals;
b. Support in otherparliamentary work of the team;
c. Collaborate withcommunications administration and finance verticals for project purposes;
d. Team Management;
e. Draft contracts Scope ofWork (SoW) and manage entire end to end coordination withgrantees/vendors/consultants;
f. Support otherprojects/verticals as and when required.
EssentialQualifications:
Advanced university degree(PhD/ or Masters degree) in economics public policy or other alliedareas;
Highlevel knowledge ofJust Transition Principles and related domestic and international ecosystem;
Minimum 7 years of workexperience for candidates with Masters and 34 years for candidates withcompleted PhD;
Advanced expertise instatistical tools and software with strong data analysis and visualizationskills;
Prior experience ofworking in the policy/governance/development sectors;
Project management withgovernment and decisionmakers at its interface;
Strong stakeholdermanagement skills;
Strong analytical skillsability to think strategically analyze and synthesize diverse
qualitative and quantitativeenvironmentally related data and information;
Ability to follow upmultiple workstreams simultaneously;
Strong communication skillsincluding fluent written and verbal English;
Team management and publicspeaking skills;
Demonstrated experience injust transition environmental governance sustainability and climate changeetc;
Publications in reputedjournals (preferred);
Knowledge of Air Quality(preferred).
