Position: School Bookkeeper / Accountant Reports to: Executive Director Work Site:The Main Street Academy; College Park GA (School Based) FLSA Status: FullTime Onsite Salary Range: $46576 $85533 Annually Job Summary: The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is seeking an organized and detailoriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to join our team. This fulltime position will be responsible for managing and overseeing the schools financial activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong financial knowledge attention to detail and the ability to work collaboratively with school leadership to ensure sound financial practices and compliance with applicable regulations. Required Qualifications: - Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or a related field (required).
- Bookkeeping/Accounting Experience: 24 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience.
School or School District Experience Preferred. - Proven experience in accounting or finance preferably in an educational or nonprofit environment (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles financial reporting and budgeting.
Certification/Licensure - Certified Bookkeeper (CB) or Certified Public Bookkeeper (CPB)(preferred but not required).
- QuickBooks Certification/Experience
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Financial Management: Work with the Executive Director to oversee the schools financial operations including general accounting budgeting and financial reporting.
- Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and uptodate financial records ensuring compliance with applicable state and federal regulations.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of the schools budget ensuring that expenses are in line with approved budgets.
- Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process invoices track payments and maintain accurate accounts payable and receivable records.
- Compliance: Ensure that all financial practices are compliant with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other relevant regulations.
- Audit Support: Assist in preparing for audits and ensure the school is fully prepared for annual audits or financial reviews.
- Collaboration: Work closely with school leadership to provide financial analysis reporting and strategic financial planning support.
- Other Duties: Perform other accounting tasks as assigned including assisting with special projects or internal audits.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge: - Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field (required).
- Strong background in accounting finance and financial software (QuickBooks Microsoft Excel etc..
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and school finance practices is a plus.
