JOB DUTIES: Responsible for operating the College of Engineering & Miness multidisciplinary materials characterization laboratory. Specific duties include: 1 operating maintaining and supervising the materials characterization laboratory research including analysis using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy total organic carbon analyzer ion chromatograph xray diffraction (XRD) scanning electron microscopy (SEM) xray fluorescence (XRF) atomic force microscopy (AFM) nanoindenter core nuclear magnetic resonance (coreNMR) and thermogravimetric (TGA); 2 training and supervising laboratory researchers including assisting in teaching courses; 3 performing analytical protocols and quality assurance and quality control procedures; 4 providing technical support to College of Engineering & Mines researchers in writing highquality grant proposals; and 5 assisting the laboratory manager and College of Engineering & Mines financial staff in laboratory management.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Masters degree in Chemistry Physics Materials Science Chemical Engineering or a closely related field; 6 months of laboratory experience including specific handson experience in materials development and specific experience using Xray Diffractometer (XRD) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) Xray Fluorescence Spectrometer (XRF) Raman Imaging Microscope (RM) Thermal Gravimetric Analyzer (TGA) Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectroscopy (ICPOES) Ion Chromatography (IC) Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) and Total Organic Carbon Analyzer (TOC).
