Job Description

The Department of Physics at Seton Hall University invites applications to fill a tenuretrack assistant professor position beginning the Fall 2025 semester. A Ph.D. in Physics or Applied Physics and a research specialization in Engineering is required. Candidates should have expertise and research interests in renewable energy environmental science & engineering and related topics in materials science & engineering The candidate is expected to build an oncampus research program successfully seek sponsored research grants and involve undergraduate and graduate students in scholarly activity. We seek a candidate who demonstrates excellence in teaching lecture and laboratory courses at all levels especially to students of diverse backgrounds.
This position is part of a collaborative STEM hiring initiative between the Departments of Biological Sciences Chemistry and Biochemistry Mathematics and Computer Science and Physics in the broad areas of applied science and/or engineering including: computer science electrical cybersecurity systems materials science bioanalysis sensors and sustainability. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interest and ability to attract students and external funding in one or more of these areas.

Duties and Responsibilities:

This is a tenuretrack assistant professor position to teach sections of fundamental Physics courses for Physics and other science Majors and to provide the crucial research experience for our increasing UG majors and graduate students in Applied Physics in Engineering. The department is in need for researchactive fulltime faculty with 9 cr/semester teaching load. The new faculty will develop new applied and engineering physics research areas and complement the existing research programs in the department. The main duties/functions of this tenuretrack faculty will be:
developing a new research program and new courses in applied physics and engineering;
teaching 18 credits per year in undergraduate and graduate courses;
academic advising for Physics students.

Required Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Physics Applied Physics and/or a related field of Engineering is required.
