Job Title:Paraprofessional

Reports To:Principal

Contracted Days:180

Job Summary: To assist support and work closely with teachers administrators and other team members in providing a quality instructional program to continuously improve student achievement. Should possess the ability to adapt to different levels and needs of students build a strong rapport with parents and colleagues and have the desire to work in a studentcentered environment.

Essential Duties:

• Effectively observes assigned work hours.
• Maintains a pattern of prompt and regular attendance.
• Follows the daily schedule as prescribed.
• Works with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by the teacher.
• Provides extra assistance to students with exceptionalities such as nonEnglishspeaking students or those with physical and/or mental disabilities and 504 Plans.
• Assists as directed by the supervising teacher in the effort to successfully maintain students with special needs in an integrated setting as determined by the IEP team.
• Assists identified students with transporting materials or supplies as needed.
• Assists identified students with specific personal and physical needs.
• Serves as a source of information and assists any substitute teacher assigned to the class.
• Participates in staff development opportunities provided by the district
• Demonstrates a positive attitude toward work assignments.
• Prolonged periods of standing or sitting could be required.
• Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 60 College Hours or Passing Scores on the Paraprofessional Assessment

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand walk sit use hands for fine manipulation handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. The employee is occasionally required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
