Job Description

General Summary of Position:

The Francis College of Engineering invites applications for an outstanding candidate for a Visiting Professor in the Mechanical & Industrial Engineering department. This position emphasizes teaching and pedagogy while also providing opportunities to pursue research. The appointment is scheduled to begin Fall Semester 2025.

Candidates with experience in engineering education and design of effective and inclusive pedagogical approaches will be given strong consideration. We value excellence and innovation incurriculum design and courses that promote experiential learning and professional skills for our students. The successful applicant will have opportunities to collaborate in teaching with faculty across our six departments.

This position entails teaching four course load equivalents for each of fall and spring semesters. There are no service expectations associated with this position.

The successful candidates will be expected to assist in teaching a range of undergraduate and graduate classes that may include: Intro to Engineering Design Statics Strength of Materials Dynamics Computer Aided Design Materials Science for Engineers Manufacturing Laboratory Thermodynamics Fluid Mechanics Kinematics of Mechanisms Math Methods Instrumentation and Measurement Laboratory Control of Mechanical Systems Heat Transfer Applied Strength of Materials ThermoFluid Applications Thermal Fluids Lab Dynamic Systems Design of Machine Elements Design Theory and Constraints Capstone Design ThermoFluid Systems Design and other technical electives.

Just north of Lowell the grandeur of New Hampshires White Mountains unfolds not far from the storied ski lodges of Vermont.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Applicant must currently have a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or a closely related discipline

  • Teaching or research experience
  • Ability to teach the following courses: IENG.2100 Engineering Design & Manufacturing MECH.3610 Math Methods for Mechanical Engineers MECH 4030 Thermal Fluids Laboratory and designrelated courses
