Job Description

The individual in this position will be responsible for assisting the Institute for Technology Assessment (ITA) Program Manager and Director as well as the Radiology Research Director in the oversight of Pre and PostAward management of research grants; establishment of new funds; and monitoring of budgetary performance for federal and industry agreements within the ITA and Department of Radiology.

Approximately 60 of effort will be dedicated to the ITA and 40 of effort will be dedicated to the Radiology Research Director. The scope of the position is expected to involve approximately $8 million in research funds and 50 with ITA and Radiology Research Finance staff in establishing and monitoring active funds and in terminating expired funds. Will also assist ITA faculty in specific tasks pertaining to grant development particularly but not restricted to those pertaining to budgetary planning.

  • Monitors expenditures and assures budgetary compliance; processes cost transfers; and provides monthly fund updates to investigators.
  • Analyzes cash flow to prevent deficit spending.
  • Generates regular balance and projection reports for ITA Program Manager Director and investigators.
  • Responds to investigator budget inquiries; identifies compliance issues; and provides financial and salary documentation as needed.
  • Assists ITA Program Manager and Director and Radiology Research Director in providing advice to PIs on fund utilization and financial policies of granting agencies.
  • Maintains database of inactive and active research and sundry funds for the ITA.
  • Additional specific tasks include: Maintain database of institutional research and sundry fund activation procedures and be the key financial contact for Radiology Research Director regarding funds at the ITA. Input and monitor all salary distribution changes for professional research personnel in Peoplesoft. Initiate and process reimbursements and check requests for assigned grants/contracts. Review adjust and obtain approval for quarterly Time and Effort reports for all sponsored activities in order to ensure compliance with government guidelines. Responsible for processing invoices for all ITA revenue and for tracking payment of invoices and subcontracts. Monitor accounts receivables and process appropriate cost transfers. Interact with investigators and collaborators to ensure timely billing and collections. Attend monthly meetings and training sessions to remain current with federal state and other sponsor requirements and policy issues. Skills and Competencies Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Prior knowledge of grant preparations and funding guidelines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word Access and Excel. Highly goaloriented selfmotivated and able to work independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication skills and professional manner.
  • Willingness to take on new challenges and openness to change.
  • Bachelors required plus 1 year of relevant experience
