Summary


Rail Electrical Worker

This recruitment will be used to fill multiple career serviceRail Electrical Worker positions. These positions will perform skilled high voltage 600 volts and above) journeylevel work to troubleshoot maintain repair upgrade and perform comprehensive preventive maintenance on rail electrical systems as well as electrical systems and equipment in Light Rail shops tunnels and other facilities.

About Metro Transits Expanding Rail Division
King County Metro Transits Rail Division manages and maintains Sound Transits Link light rail service and City of Seattles streetcar system. Link light rail currently spans a 33mile route from SeaTac to Lynnwood and a 6.6mile route from Redmond to South Bellevue. By the end of 2026 light rail is projected to expand to nearly 60 route miles adding seven new stations. Additional expansions to the Link system will be coming on line for years to come.

Pay Information
This is a singlewage position.Current day shift wage is $67.70/hour and 2nd/3rd shifts wage is $71.76/hour.

These positions are considered safety sensitive.Applicants for these positions are required to undergo drug testing prior to employment and subsequent to commencement of employment will be subject to random postaccident reasonable suspicion return to duty and followup drug and alcohol testing in compliance with Federal DOT alcohol and controlled substance testing program protocols.

Work Schedule
This nonexempt position is eligible for overtime pay at double time rate and employees must be willing and able to work any shift. This position is part of a workgroup that provides 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year support.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

In addition to the minimum qualifications the most competitive candidates will possess the following desired qualifications:
  • Experience in maintaining Light Rail Overhead Contact System (OCS) and components.
  • Experience in maintaining Traction Power Substations (TPSS) components.
  • Knowledge of rail industries standards
Necessary Special Requirements
  • A valid Drivers License. If you possess an outofstate drivers license you must obtain a WA state license within 30 days of hire.
  • Washington State Class A drivers license with air brake endorsement OR the ability to obtain and maintain a Class A license within six months of hire date and an acceptable driving record (we will provide training).
  • Applicants must be able to meet ongoing educational and training requirements and maintain required certifications such as HiRail Forklift Aerial Lift Confined Space First Aid/CPR and other certifications.
Working Environment
Work is performed both indoors and outdoors day and night and in inclement weather. Must be able to work in crowded/tight spaces tunnels and aerial structures at heights.
