Description
The City of Lake Forest is seeking a creative and motivated college student majoring in English Communications or a related field to join our team as a Communications Intern. Gain handson experience in municipal communications while contributing to projects that enhance community engagement and promote city initiatives.
Examples of Duties
- Assist in writing and editing social media posts newsletters and website content.
- Support the creation and scheduling of content across social media platforms.
- Take pictures and create videos for use on social media website etc.
- Write journalistic stories for the Citys Lake Forest Love blog by conducting interviews and collaborating with staff.
- Conduct research to support marketing and outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with City staff to develop content that aligns with brand and community goals.
- Assist with daily administrative duties.
Qualifications
- Current college student majoring in English Communications Digital Media Journalism Marketing Public Relations or a related field.
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation especially Facebook Instagram and YouTube.
- Selfstarted with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Enthusiasm for public service and community engagement.
- Basic knowledge of photography and graphic design tools is a plus but not required.
