Are you fluent in Dari and Pashto Are you passionate about supporting students in their language and cultural development If so we have an exciting opportunity for you!
In this position you will play a pivotal role in supporting students who are on the path to mastering English as an additional language (EAL) with Dari or Pashto as their first language. Your contributions will be instrumental in helping these students navigate the national curriculum successfully ensuring they thrive throughout their educational journey.
This role offers 16 hours per week. It follows the academic calendar allowing you to work during school term periods and enjoy welldeserved school holidays. You may find yourself working in various schools across Wiltshire and we are open to the possibility of a jobshare arrangement where one Dari speaker and one Pashto speaker can collaborate effectively.
Your role will provide invaluable language support to Dari and Pashtospeaking students aiding them in improving their English language skills. Additionally your responsibilities include conducting initial language assessments to pinpoint areas where students may require additional support. You will also serve as a cultural guide offering insights to school staff on how to address the unique needs of students from Afghanistan. Facilitating connections between students homes and the school environment to enhance parental involvement is another critical aspect of your role.
To excel in this role you should possess some knowledge and experience of the English education system and an understanding of language development in EAL communication skills in English Dari and Pashto are essential. Your familiarity with the cultural background and specific needs of Afghan children will be a significant asset.
