Job Description
Oversees the daytoday operations of MSUs the JRL facility and ensures polices and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are adhered to within the JRL facility. In coordination with MSUs Biosafety Officer and Responsible Official develops implements and coordinates MSUs CDC approved Select Agent and Toxin program. Assists investigators staff and Facilities Services personnel with all matters related to safety and compliance and interpretation regarding Biosafety regulations and guidelines for biological agents shipping requirements containment practices risk assessment work procedures and practices and decontamination procedures in the JRL facility. Maintains expertise on existing and proposed changes in regulations pertaining to the JRL facility; interprets and applies relevant laws regulations codes and best practices including making recommendations for work changes based on interpretations and principles of professional practices. Works closely with Facilities Services University Police and thirdparty companies on JRL facility building maintenance certification security compliance and other regulatory requirements. Informs and educates staff students and other constituencies regarding JRL facility issues; develops training materials and provides training to JRL staff and ancillary personnel. Conducts biosafety inspections follow ups incident reports and completes other duties as assigned by MSUs Biosafety Officer. Supports the Radiation Safety Program in duties of waste management radiation surveys decommissioning protocol administration and other program operations. Performs miscellaneous jobrelated duties as assigned.

Potential exposure to laboratory hazards including biological chemical and radiological which require the implementation of safety practices to minimize the risk.
