Assistant Professor of Nursing Education
POSITION: Western Colorado University invites applications for a tenuretrack full time faculty position in Nursing Education. The faculty member will provide didactic lab and clinical education. Teaching responsibilities would include courses in Foundations of Nursing EvidenceBase Nursing Practice Health Promotion and Assessment Across the Lifespan Nursing Care of Older Adults and Nursing Care of Children and Families. Other courses could be included in the teaching load based on need and qualifications. The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load. Provision of education in the clinical simulation lab is expected with the opportunity to provide leadership in this setting. Strong commitment to effective teaching advising service and professional development is expected. This position is inperson. We seek applicants who are committed to undergraduate education who can teach introductory as well as advanced nursing courses to a diverse community of students and provide meaningful mentoring to students through career readiness and clinical rotation placements. The selected candidate will also assist the Director of the Nursing Education Program with accreditation processes developing implementing evaluating and updating the purpose mission and objectives of the nursing education program developing implementing and evaluating the curriculum and efforts related to student recruitment admission progression retention and graduation. Candidates with a passion for teaching excellence in nursing are desired. In addition candidates with experience in and a desire to build new programs are encouraged to apply.

QUALIFICATIONS: A doctorate in nursing from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation. If the individual has a doctorate in a field other than nursing they must have a bachelors degree in nursing from a Nursing Education Program with national nursing accreditation and demonstrate evidence that the graduate degree is in a field relevant to the area of responsibility. Candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate education excellence in teaching and willingness to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse student population. Candidates must also be able to use technology in instructional delivery including ability to teach online and hybrid courses. Collegiality and professional flexibility are characteristic of the department and would be sought in the successful candidate.
Minimum qualifications
An active Unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in Colorado.
Two years of fulltime or equivalent clinical experience as a practicing registered nurse.
SALARY/BENEFITS: $80000$85000 annualized salary. Western offers an excellent benefits package including shared premiums for a comprehensive health insurance plan dental insurance retirement plan life insurance and other insurance options. After one year of employment Western provides free tuition for dependents enrolled full time in undergraduate programs for up to four years. Western has acquired local rental agreements for newly hired employees moving to the Gunnison Valley which can serve as bridge housing.
