CLASS TITLE: DIRECTOR OF GRAVELY HALL & THE ARTS

CLASS CODE: 7462

REPORT TO/EVALUATED BY: Chief Academic Officer or Designee

BASIC FUNCTION: To improve arts opportunities for students and to provide a highquality performance hall that benefits students staff and the community.

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

  • Plan organize and coordinate the schedule and events in the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center located in Danville High School.
  • Coordinate with Gravely Hall staff district technology staff and district maintenance staff regarding ongoing maintenance and equipment for the Gravely Hall Performing Arts Center.
  • Coordinate and supervise Gravely Hall personnel and training of student faculty and staff on theatre technology systems in the Danville Schools.
  • Work directly with students with curricular and cocurricular learning activities which reflect the goals of the district.
  • Communicate and model best practices in arts education including curriculum instruction and assessment with staff.
  • Collaborate with leadership and staff in all of the district schools to improve arts education and opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with Danville Schools faculty/staff to pursue funding opportunities that improve arts education opportunities for students.
  • Collaborate with community higher education and state and regional organizations when possible to improve arts education and opportunities for students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Practices policies and procedures involved in the functional areas assigned (i.e. knowledge of and experience working with arts education curriculum and instruction and formative and summative assessment that is both disciplinebased and the arts integrated with other academic areas).
  • Computer and theatre technology.
  • Modern office practices procedures and equipment.
  • Oral and written communication skills.
  • Grant Writing skills.
  • Research methods and report writing techniques.
  • Laws rules and regulations related to assigned activities.
  • District organization operations policies and objectives.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact patience and courtesy.
  • Health and safety regulations.
  • Principles and practices of administration supervision and training.
  • Budget preparation and control.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: bachelors degree in a field related to assignment and six years related experience including at least three years in a supervisory capacity.
