Salary: $70000/Yr $165000/Yr
Summary: Craig Technologies has an opening for a Senior Equipment Stress Engineer at the Hanford Vit Plant (Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant) in Richland WA. In this position you will be working as a member of the Equipment Analysis Group designing and analyzing complex mechanical equipment. You will be preparing design documentation performing calculations using engineering software and preparing specifications for complex mechanical equipment used in the waste treatment process and support systems.
Detailed Description:
Collect the process mechanical controls safety and other requirements for the process equipment in order to develop highly detailed documents and calculations for the equipment to meet the applicable requirements.
Design calculations validating the suitability of equipment for use on project.
Perform equipment analyses using CFD or FEA software to produce equipment design calculations as well as perform reviews of analyses and other submittals prepared by equipment vendors.
Resolve technical issues related to the equipment design and discuss them with other disciplines groups suppliers and the customer.
Interface and coordinate with other engineering disciplines in the development of the design.
Support the production of the equipment drawings. This may be performed as an individual contributor or leading other engineers.
Prepare reports and studies in resolving open technical issues related to the equipment design.
Support development of cost estimates and schedules for mechanical equipment.
Ensure work is performed to the projects quality standards for nuclear facilities while executing to the schedule.
Position Requirements:
US Citizenship Required.
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (or equivalent) with minimum of 13 years of experience. Related experience includes but is not limited to the design and fabrication of complex equipment experience with liquid & gas handling equipment preferred (vessels tanks air handling equipment mixers etc.
Knowledge of industry and regulatory guides codes and standards; particularly fabrication and construction of process equipment including ASME Section VIII ASME B31.3 AISC ASD AISC N690 etc.
Significant experience using CFD analysis software (such as STARCCM and/or ANSYS Fluent).
Understanding of fluid dynamics specifically fluid flow heat transfer and acoustics.
Experience working with procedures employing quality assurance programs such as ASMENQA1 MILQ9858A or ISO9000.
Broad knowledge of the application of Mechanical Engineering design principles
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) work well with others and is flexible.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products (i.e. Word Excel PowerPoint etc.
Must be able to complete and pass a preemployment drug screen physical (if located at the construction site) and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge)
Preferred Qualifications:
Professional Engineering license.
MS degree in Engineering (Mechanical or related).
Experience in DOE or commercial nuclear facilities particularly in equipment design analysis.
Experience using STARCCM and/or ANSYS Fluent CFD Software Packages
Experience using ANSYS Finite Element Analysis Software (Mechanical APDL or Workbench).
Experience performing equipment analyses using FEA software to produce equipment structural design calculations.
Understanding of equipment design; specifically structural thermal and dynamic (e.g. seismic modal and response spectra) analyses.
Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.
