About the Work Unit:
The Office of Emergency Preparedness and Response serves the ESF8 (Public Health and Medical) role to DHSEM. The office involves planning training and exercising the response to public health emergencies like pandemics bioterrorism events and natural disasters. Additionally the office supports Medical Operations administers the federal Hospital Preparedness Program grant and serves Colorados medical system in preparedness response and recovery. Our work applies Public Health approaches and data informed monitoring tracking and process improvement.
Project Title: Medical Operations and Hospital Preparedness Program Support.
This internship provides administrative support for office scheduling taking minutes and participating in stakeholder group meetings with Medical System Preparedness and Response subject matter experts and develops process improvement initiatives and program monitoring activities. The duties are flexible to meet particular needs of a practicum or capstone project as per the students request and what the office can support. This role is in a hybrid format and unpaid.
At the end of the internship the student will be able to:
Prepare meeting invites
Take meeting minutes in a standardized format
Distribute information to regional and state partners
Facilitate state meetings with internal and external stakeholders independently.
Deliverables or outcomes:
Develop meeting agendas with collaborative input from key stakeholders in a standardized format to be distributed 2 weeks prior to meetings
Record meeting minutes to be approved by Program Manager and distributed to designated contacts within one week of the meeting
Facilitate at least one meeting independently within the project period.
Emergency Preparedness and Response stakeholder engagement project management public health practices approaches to communicable diseases policy development implementation and monitoring and process improvement.
Minimum Qualifications: Students who took courses in public health practices communications emergency management or stakeholdering.
Qualified candidates must be either:
Masters student enrolled in an accredited university seeking a degree programin Public Healthor closely related fields.
OR
A recent masters graduate. Recently graduated means the individual should have attended a university and have graduated with a masters degree in Public Healthwithinthree calendar years (must include transcripts to be considered).

If you are using education to qualify a legible copy of your official or unofficial college transcript(s) or a foreign credential evaluation report must be submitted with your application. Transcripts must show the name of the school and that a degree was conferred. Transcripts from colleges or universities outside of the United States must be assessed for U.S. equivalency by a NACES educational credential evaluation service. Failure to provide a transcript or foreign credential evaluation report may result in your application being rejected and you will not be able to continue in the selection process for this position.
