Job Description

The Role
The Mount Vernon School is seeking registered nurses who can substitute when our fulltime nurse is out on PTO/leave. Serving our KG12 learners nurses treat students for medical issues help prevent physical issues and disease administer daily student prescriptions and coordinate routine health assessments during school hours 7:30 am 3:30 pm).
- Responsible for professional medical treatment of students and staff
- Responsible for early detection of physical problems and health evaluations
- Maintains clinical records
- Manage student food allergies and sensitivities
- Collaborate and communicate with parents faculty and staff as needed regarding specific students or issues
- Refer athletic injuries to Athletic Trainer as needed for followup care
Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with community stakeholders of all ages.
- Technical proficiency in utilizing online medical platforms and Google apps such as email calendar docs and spreadsheets.
- Experience with Magnus software preferred.
Education and Experience
- Registered nurse with current Georgia nursing license required.
- Certified American Heart Association CPR AED and First Aid instructor (or willing to obtain).
- Experience in school nursing or a related field such as pediatrics; early childhood experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Prolonged periods of standing reaching and bending.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
