Summary:
Primarily serves as a liaison between Radiology professionals and customers to include community physicians internal physicians service departments and offsite facilities. Expedites the coordination of all testing and services in the department by coordinating the scheduling of diagnostic testing and procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Serves as a primary point of contact between Radiologist and community physicians by communicating and facilitating all follow up on studies and responding to patient care issues.
2. Performs all Radiology support functions in all areas of the department.
3. Obtains prior films/studies as requested by Radiologists Supervisors/Leads technologists and other departments (GI Neuro Pulmonary Radiation Oncology and Oncology). Uploads prior imaging/reports in PACS. Utilizes the Cerner RIS PACS Powerscribe 360 PacsGear and Soarian systems.
5. Answers the telephone promptly and courteously. Takes detailed messages to ensure accurate and timely responses. Retrieves messages and responds to them in a timely fashion.
6. Assists other staff members as needed to ensure service excellence and quality of care in the department.
7. Monitors PACS worklist study and report status to assure exams have a final report and prior exams have been loaded into system.
8. Performs accurate search/selection of patient within the hospital system to maintain the integrity of the Electronic Master Patient Index and to ensure the accuracy of patient identification.
9. Prepares/Organizes study information for Tumor Boards. Loads images in Tumor Board folders in PACS.
10. Prepares patient packet information and screening forms for MRI studies. Provides codes for all MRI outpatient exams. Assures release of information forms are filled correctly and scanned into system.
11. Distributes Radiologist daily schedule to Radiology staff and affiliates.
12. Responsible for gathering and distribution of information for MRI and CT protocols for all locations.
13. Daily verification of prior image request and loading prior studies into PACS.
14. Assists IR scheduler in obtaining pertinent study/order information from ordering provider office staff and radiologist.
15. Responsible for administrative assistant activities while administrative assistant is on PTO.
16. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.
17. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT
Required: This position requires a minimum formal education of High School Diploma and minimum of three years jobrelated experience. Associates preferred.
Minimum Experience: three years
Desired: Customer service and organizational skills.
