A leading law firm is seeking Pro Bono Legal Practice Assistants for its New York and Washington D.C. offices starting June 2025. This entrylevel role supports immigration and Spanishlanguage pro bono matters through translation case tracking and administrative assistance. It offers a meaningful opportunity to work directly with attorneys and clients on impactful legal work.
Qualifications
- Fluent in Spanish; skilled in translating documents and interpreting conversations.
- Bachelors degree required.
- Strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills especially around sensitive topics.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Outlook Excel); ability to learn new software systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail organization and research ability.
- Able to manage multiple priorities in a fastpaced environment.
- Discretion and ability to handle confidential matters.
Responsibilities
- Serve as main contact for Spanishspeaking pro bono clients.
- Interpret meetings between attorneys and clients (phone video inperson).
- Translate documents and correspondence between Spanish and English.
- Track pro bono immigration cases and generate internal reports.
- Support preparation and filing of legal documents and case materials.
- Assist with caserelated research using tools like Westlaw LexisNexis and PACER.
- Coordinate meetings and assist with scheduling and followups.
- Maintain organized and accurate electronic and paper case files.
