Job Description

The University of Iowa Health Care department of Food & Nutrition is seeking a Neurology Keto Pediatric Clinical Dietitian II. This position uses Nutrition Care Process to assess evaluate and provide medical nutrition therapy and nutrition counseling for the pediatric neurology and ketogenic outpatient and inpatient populations. Teaches dietetic interns. Participates in multidisciplinary teams and develops nutritional components of care. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development appropriate to the patients status according to age.

  • Assesses nutritional status and instructs/counsels on appropriate diet.
  • Participates as active member of departmental/hospital committees concerning problems affecting patients food habits and needs.
  • Participates in health team rounds and shortterm projects.
  • Participates on Clinical Masters selection committee. Educates students with onthejob training. Evaluates students. Provides students with necessary support and assistance to ensurework is completed.
  • Educates/trains new personnel as assigned and acts as a mentor to new personnel.
  • Conducts peer chart reviews/audits for Dietitian I.
  • Seeks opportunities to enhance ones own professional knowledge skills and developmentincluding research for publication/presentation lead monthly CEU program for dietitian staff obtain advanced credentialing serve as a clinical resource to peers.
  • Functional supervision is exercised over Diet Clerks.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public.
