Department Summary

The Lundquist College of Business is one of seven schools housing academic programs on the University of Oregon campus. Located 110 miles south of Portland the University of Oregon has an enrollment of over 25000. The Eugene metro area is in a region noted for its dynamic quality of life and progressive cultural environment. We are about an hours drive from the Pacific coast and the Cascade Mountains. The School of Accountings curriculum is designed for students who want to prepare for a career in public corporate or governmental accounting or who want to embark on a management career with a strong accounting emphasis.

The School provides undergraduate and masters students with excellent conceptual and technical skills that will allow them to excel in productive and successful careers as future business leaders. The school also actively contributes to creating knowledge by conducting and publishing highquality scholarly research and by training PhD students to become future teachers and scholars.

Position Summary

The School of Accounting maintains a pool of candidates interested in filling pro tempore positions as needs arise. Pro Tem positions are limitedduration appointments potentially renewable for up to a total of three years. Pro tempore faculty work under the supervision of the Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Research and/or the requisite department head. This pool may also be used to fill nontenure track career appointments as openings arise.

The Department is seeking talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning to teach accounting at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses are scheduled to be conducted on campus and in the classroom.

Candidates should be strongly committed to quality undergraduate and graduate instruction service to students contributing positively to our diverse community and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements

Instructor:
Masters degree. In exceptional circumstances a BA/BS degree and evidence of substantial professional experience may substitute for an advanced degree.

Lecturer (for those teaching primarily graduatelevel courses):
Terminal degree in relevant field.

Professor of Practice:
Substantial basis of experience equal to a tenured professor (normally a minimum of 12 years).
National/international reputation for excellence reflected in a record of significant accomplishments.
Profile of accumulated professional accomplishments.
Rich and extensive background in the field.

Professional Competencies

Excellent written and verbal communication skills that will enhance community relations and support undergraduate/graduate student training.
Demonstrated ability or potential for quality teaching.

Preferred Qualifications

PhD or other doctorate and demonstrated teaching experience.
