Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Program Manager Veterinary Technician Program. The Program Manager Veterinary Technician Program is located in the Nursing and Allied Health. This is a fulltime position for internal applicants only.
REPORTS TO: Dean of Nursing and Allied Health

Required Education:- Bachelors Degree in Veterinary Technology Graduate of AVMA or CVMA Accredited Program
- Certifications/Licenses Required: Certified Veterinary Technician
Required Experience:
- Possess a minimum of five years of experience as a veterinary technician or veterinary technician educator within the past ten years.
- Possess a minimum of three years teaching experience as a veterinary technician educator in higher education.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development instructional design and educational best practices.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment.
- Experience with budget management and resource allocation.
- Familiarity with accreditation processes and compliance standards in higher education.
- Experience in online education or elearning platforms.
- Ethical/ legal principles and professionalism in the healthcare industry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with healthcare policy regulations and industry trends

- Masters Degree in Health Science or Allied Health

Job Concepts
The Program Manager is faculty position and formal representative of discipline specific accredited programs responsible for successful accreditation. The program manager will provide academic oversight engaged instruction curricula planning and development oversee program and student outcomes and engage in professional work to advance the Colleges mission by participating in institutional advancement professional development and service in the pursuit of excellence.
The Program Manager works closely with stakeholders to enhance student success ensure compliance with accreditation standards and strengthen partnerships that promote program growth and workforce development. This position requires strong leadership organizational and communication skills to address the dynamic needs of students faculty and the institution while promoting innovation and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
25 Administrative Responsibilities
- Identify and resolve day to day operational issues
- Equipment Management maintain checkout acquire inventory and equipment
- Assessment Ensure academic rigor and quality instruction is met and ensure compliance with institutional policies.
- Program Reviews
- Program Learning Outcome Assessment
- Accreditation Ensure compliance with accreditation and state boards are met. Monitor program performance track student progress report results annually
- Program Annual Reports
- State Requirements
- Seek initial accreditation for programs as needed
- Conduct reaccreditation as needed
- Collaborate with external stakeholders to develop internship and job placement opportunities for program graduates.
- Equipment and Inventory Management
- Assist faculty with course/program development and related issues
- Assist faculty with upskilling to support new course/program development
- Communicate with appropriate departments at regional colleges/universities to facilitate curriculum transfer and articulation
- Maintain/review/revise master course syllabi
- Maintain/review/revise program handbook
- Ensure textbook adoptions are completed
- Program Reviews
20 Personnel management
- Recommend faculty to department chair as necessary
- Mentor and orient new faculty
- Provide supervision of didactic faculty and clinical instructors/preceptors
- Resolve faculty issues/complaints/concerns
20 Student management
- Assist students with prerequisite and corequisite issues
- Approve overrides for full classes or for students who have already met requirements
- Conduct final grade appeals for courses within program discipline
- Review and approve grade changes and incomplete grade forms if applicable
- Review and approve attendance reinstatement forms if applicable
- Ensure maintenance of relevant records/paperwork
- Assist enrollment services with course equivalencies/substitutions
- Coordinate Student Advising
- Oversee credit for Prior Learning Assessment within the program discipline if applicable
- Resolve student issues/complaints/concerns
- Coordinate unit plans for the program with faculty
- Develop/present/defend program budget
- Develop and maintain grant funding reports
- Submit requisitions for purchases
- Complete annual budget review of program
10 Program Assessment and Accreditation
- Oversee annual program learning outcome assessment
- Conduct and coordinate program reviews
- Coordinate and conduct annual accreditation reports
- Coordinate and conduct accreditation sitevisits and followup reports
10 Instructional Responsibilities:
- Carry a minimum Teaching Load Equivalency (TLE) of one 3 credit hour course per semester
- Engage in didactic laboratory and clinical instruction as needed.
- Carry out all duties and responsibilities listed as a fulltime faculty.
2.5 Service to College and Profession:
- Serve on committees appropriate to the position
- Participate in college activities
2.5 Professional Development
- Engage in continual professional development activities as it relates to pedagogy assessment and faculty area of expertise in order to maintain and upgrade professional instructional and administrative capabilities
