Job Description:

The Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC) is part of the Division of Student Life. The Director of the CWC is a member of the Division of Student Lifes Leadership Team and reports to the Executive Director of the CWC. This role also serves on the CWC Leadership Team ensuring alignment between the CWC the Division of Student Life and the Health & Wellbeing strategic plans. Additionally the Director integrates divisional perspectives and priorities into all aspects of their work.

The CWC Director oversees the leadership supervision and management of the Counseling and Wellness Center (CWC). This includes direct supervision of six Associate Directors. The Director is responsible for operational and strategic planning policy development direct counseling crisis intervention consultation outreach services quality control and oversight of the professional training program. They also advocate for the department and ensure accountability.

In collaboration with the Executive Director the Director participates in the budgeting process and manages resources effectively. They establish parameters and expectations for staff decisionmaking delegate tasks assign objectives and measure outcomes. The Director reports on key results including student satisfaction learning objectives efficiency impact relevance and alignment with institutional and divisional goals.

The Director collaborates with various units within the Division of Student Life campus agencies and academic departments fostering strong relationships with the Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education graduate training programs. They are also expected to engage in research or scholarly activities and may serve as clinical faculty affiliated with the Department of Psychology and/or Counselor Education. Additionally the Director establishes the standards and expectations for how the Counseling and Wellness Center engages with other departments across campus.

CWC Mission
The mission of the Counseling and Wellness Center at the University of Florida is to support students in fostering their mental health and wellbeing to promote personal educational and career development. We achieve this through the delivery of highquality socially conscious services. Our primary focus is providing brief confidential counseling to help students succeed both academically and in their interpersonal relationships.

The faculty and staff of the Counseling and Wellness Center provide traumainformed support services. We help students navigate periods of intense mental distress offering support for complex trauma and other adversities they may face. Our goal is to minimize the use of nonconsensual interventions employing them only after procedural due process and when all other available resources have been exhausted.   • Individual couples and group counseling for students with psychological emotional academic and/or relationship concerns
  • Crisis intervention for students experiencing a personal crisis or emergency
  • Stress management and biofeedback services
  • Outreach prevention and educational programs for students faculty and staff
  • Consultation services for students faculty staff families and friends of students
  • Training and supervision to counseling and psychology graduate students from prepracticum through postdoctoral residency
  • Assessment and referral services
  • Teaching research and scholarship

Our staff consists of 57 clinicians in clinical psychology counseling psychology social work and counselor education.

Expected Salary:

Salary negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum qualifications for the position include a doctoral degree in a counseling or clinical psychology (APA accredited) or counseling (CACREP accredited) program; seven years experience in university counseling centers with evidence of significant administrative experience; and licensed or licensable as a mental health professional or psychologist in the State of Florida. The Director of the Counseling Center is a fulltime position with clinical faculty status.
