The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Alaska Army National Guard Facilities FMO (ARNG) is recruiting for a
Building Maintenance Superintendent!

This position is in theSupervisory (SU)bargaining unit at a range 20.

This position is open toAK Residentsonly.

What You Will Be Doing:
As the Superintendent of the AK Army National Guard Facilities Management Office (ARNG) you will lead a team of up to 25 employees in the building maintenance branch ensuring effective oversight of the Operations and Maintenance components. Your role involves managing federal programs that support operational continuity for uniformed members as well as budgeting prioritizing planning scheduling and assigning maintenance projects. You will be responsible for overseeing the Labor Trades and Crafts workforce through foreman leadership guaranteeing that facilities are properly maintained and that all work aligns with our Master Cooperative Agreement.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access which is required with this positions work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License proof of vehicle insurance and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

State employees are guests on Joint Base ElmendorfRichardson; clearance and access is not within the States control.

Special Note:In addition in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). As part of the examination process a background check investigation including a criminal records check will be conducted. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

equivalent to those typically gained by:

Experience leading the work of maintenance crews in the construction repair or operation and preventative maintenance of public or commercial buildings and/or progressively responsible experience assessing the renovation or repair needs of public or commercial buildings; developing specifications and cost estimates; and administering construction repair or maintenance contracts. Examples of qualifying experience includes but is not exclusively limited to work such as a Maintenance Generalist Lead Maintenance Specialist Lead or Building Management Specialist with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

Competencies means a combination of interrelated knowledge skills abilities and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.

Typically gained by means the prevalent usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.

Training and education in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom online selfstudy and onthejob) from accredited and unaccredited sources and longduration (such as a postsecondary degree) and shortduration (such as a seminar) programs.
