Reporting to a Correctional Programs Supervisor this position functions in the Programs section at a medium custody male correctional facility. This positions responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:- Carrying a caseload of offenders which involves supportive counseling answering and following up on offender questions and problems and making recommendations to the classification committee.
- Assisting in major dynamic programs or coordinate major or specialized programs for the rehabilitation of offenders such as offender work assignments work release education or recreation; as well as transition planning and coordinating.
- Maintaining records and recall system.
- Answering phones and typing records and correspondences.
This is a fulltime position 40 hours per week) with State Benefits with established working hours of MondayFriday 8am5pm and may require working beyond normal work schedule to meet business need.As of January 1 2025 there are new increase adjustments to the state pay plan which were approved by the State Human Resources Commission effective January 1 2025. The new salary range will be $35984 $62971. Prior applicants will remain under consideration and do no need to reapply.Note to Current State Employees:The salary grade for this position is NC07(Salary Range: $35984 $62971. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as or lower than their current position. If selected for this position a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience funding availability and internal equity. Based upon these factors a pay increase MAY result.About Warren Correctional Institution:Warren Correctional Institution is a medium custody facility located in Manson NC which houses approximately 725 male offenders. The facility provides offender labor to one Correction Enterprises operation located off site: The Janitorial Product Plant manufactures a variety of cleaning products soap and plastic bags that are sold to various agencies/companies. - Documented knowledge of case management practices or supportive counseling techniques and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

See for details.Associate degree in Criminal Justice Human Services Recreation or a related field from an appropriately accredited institution;OR High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND two years of custody experience within the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Necessary Special Qualification: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
