Position Summary
The Department of Epidemiology in the Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health FSPH is currently seeking to fill fulltime faculty positions with the primary responsibilities of teaching research and service with a specific focus on injury epidemiology environmental epidemiology chronic disease epidemiology or other related areas. The ideal candidate will contribute significantly to the departments commitment to engage the city state nation and beyond. Our location in the largest city of the state and state capital offers significant opportunities for faculty research and student educational enrichment during and after graduation. We prepare our graduates to enter and lead in an increasingly complex world where epidemiological skills are in high demand. This is an openrank opentenure opportunity where candidates may be appointed as tenuretrack tenured clinical or research track based on qualifications and interests. Candidates should have a defined research agenda and demonstrated established capacity for success as an independent scholar developing and maintaining a welldefined research agenda addressing critical health issues that affect populations in Indiana and beyond. Additionally it is expected that candidates will actively engage with local communities fostering collaborative partnerships through communitybased participatory research and service. Teaching responsibilities will include highquality instruction in epidemiology and public health with a particular emphasis on courses related to applied epidemiology and epidemiological methods. The candidate is expected to demonstrate a commitment to scholarly excellence exemplified by producing peerreviewed publications in reputable journals and actively pursuing external research funding through grant applications to support research initiatives. Faculty at the FSPH are also expected to teach at least two courses at the graduate or undergraduate level as well as mentor trainees in the departments graduate programs. The Indianapolis campus known as IU Indy is the health and life science campus of Indiana University and the focal point of health profession education in the State of Indiana. The Department and School maintain close relationships with many health systems state and local health departments the state Medicaid agency the Indiana Hospital Association physician groups and other stakeholders.
