Mechatronic Apprentice I Military Veterans Encouraged to Apply

**NOTE: This permanent fulltime position is located in Virginia Beach VA and does not offer relocation.**

The Mechatronics & Robotics Apprentice (MRA) will learn to combine electronic mechanical computer and control skills at the workplace. During onthejob learning (OJL) you will work with complex highperformance manufacturing systems and will learn to analyze troubleshoot and repair systems to maintain process efficiency. The focus of this role is to learn the skills and abilities to ensure safety regulations and policies are adhered to assist in the installation maintenance and repair of the automated packaging and distribution equipment ensure preventative maintenance is conducted on time to a high standard and provide high levels of equipment availability through continuous improvement.

Amazon MRA apprentices are engaged in the assembly and maintenance of complex machines plants and systems in the Reliability & Maintenance Engineering sector or in organizations which purchase and operate such mechatronic systems. Apprentices are paired with journeyworkers to carry out their work at various facilities including high automation and robotics facilities in connection with service operations. They are expected to work on the basis of technical documents and instructions and carry out their work in compliance with the relevant provisions and safety regulations.

The successful candidate is an effective communicator works well in a team and is selfmotivated. They should have the ability to work collaboratively and coordinate their activities with upstream and downstream operations partners. In addition to developing your skills you will be mentored by senior technicians in order to grow in your role.


Key Responsibilities:
Perform preventative/predictive maintenance of conveyance equipment using the appropriate job plans procedures and manuals.
Maintain and repair distribution center racking.
Complete preventative maintenance routines documentation and procedures.
Track and store department inventory including spare parts.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships across all levels of the organization.
Conduct maintenance and basic troubleshooting of robotics and robotic work cells.
Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical problems related to all material handling equipment components.
Maintain and troubleshoot motors photo eyes relays proximity sensors solenoids motor starters tachs etc.
Assist in mentoring junior technicians by providing guidance and directions to help them develop their skill set.
Assist with basic electronics/Programmable Logic Controllers troubleshooting.
Physical Demands (must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation):
o Lift and move items up to 49 pounds each with or without reasonable accommodations;
o Regular bending lifting stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head
o Occasionally handle wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during site visits.
Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands and wrists.
Move in the facility and around areas with great frequency; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.
Climb ladders and gangways safely and without limitation.
Dexterity in eye/hand coordination feet (foot pedals) manual (picking pinching holding grasping) and wrist motion (repetitive flexion/rotation).
Working conditions may include small spaces dust fumes/odors hot/cold temperatures inside/outside noise vibration standing on concrete for long hours and wet or uneven surfaces.
Stand/walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.

Must be at least 18 years of age
Flexible to relocate after completion of the program
Able to enroll in and attend a 12week training at one of five designated training providers (Location to be determined postinterview)
Must meet the minimum qualifying score on a Mechanical Aptitude Test
Ability to work flexible schedules/shifts/areas including weekends nights and/or holidays

High school diploma or equivalent diploma
1 year of experience in PC competency to include: Microsoft Word Excel and Outlook


Current Tier 1 or Tier 3 bluebadge associate in Operations
Experience in an electrical mechanical or controls field
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
History of teamwork and ability to work successfully with limited supervision
