Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Manager to join our growing team. Reporting to the Director Platform Engineering the Systems Engineering Manager will manage a dynamic team of systems engineers responsible for the Design Analysis Integration Verification Validation and Operations support of spacecrafts within Terran Orbitals Portfolio. This role is responsible for a coherent set of spacecraft products and systems engineering functions that support programs and projects. The Systems Engineering Manager will apply their technical and leadership skills in organizing leading and guiding of systems engineering principals within their responsible programs set. The Systems Engineering Manager will share their technical expertise and leadership in mentoring training and leading technical system designs and architectures while managing team efficacy and to meet the business needs.
Requirements
- Lead direct review and coach the work of engineering professional direct reports to accomplish program project and departmental responsibilities
- Responsible for team members resource planning and forecasting skillset identification engineering tool implementation as well as product/process standardization for program level support in systems architecture design integration Verification and Validation Launch and Operations
- Leads and establishes goals objectives and training for the team with direct impact on both shortterm and longterm operations results
- Ensures knowledge capture and knowledge transfer by working with and mentoring engineering members
- Executes strategies and roadmap items for systems architecture and program level developments
- Propose and execute process improvements to maximize efficiency quality and technical fidelity of engineering products to support interoperability and flexible stateoftheart architectures
- Maintain outstanding communication both with both upper management and the employees in the department
- Contributes directly to or oversees staff working on new Program proposals designs and resource estimates
- Bolster the team as an individual contributor as needed
- The Systems Engineering Managers team has responsibilities including:
- Designing and developing optimal space vehicle architectures and detailed mission solutions to complex space domain challenges for various remote sensing RF and optical applications
- Mission Concept of Operations refinement mapping and application
- Requirements generation derivation decomposition and mapping
- System Definition Baseline configuration management and control
- Logical and Physical Architecture definitions and interface management
- Systemlevel design activities to include StateMachines Orbital dynamics and Communication architecture
- System Integration Verification and Validation definition and
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering or the Physical Sciences
- 12 years of spacecraft systems engineering experience
- 5 years of experience as a technical leader for spacedomain missions
- 3 years of experience leading/managing/tracking projects proposals processes and employees working within a systems engineering discipline
- Demonstrate a proven track record of applying successful expertise to sophisticated system challenges
- Experience leading complex initiatives with a proven track record of collaboration and coordination across internal and external stakeholder organizations
- Experience with Risk Issue and Opportunity management
- Understanding of how concepts of PPT (people processes & tools) systems and leadership interact to achieve team and company goals
- Proven ability to deliver effective communication verbally written form and through wellcrafted presentations across all levels of an organization including executive leadership
- Attention to technical details and meeting program delivery schedules
- Ability to selfgovern with minimal supervision establish workload priorities and utilize efficient time management practices to achieve programmatic or strategic initiatives
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD Security Clearance
Additional Differentiators
- Experience and success with spacebased reliability availability maintainability and safety
- Familiarity with satellite system budgets including mass power deltaV link and data budgets
- Experience and success with encrypted communications architectures and devices and data products
- Demonstrated experience and success with Optical or RF systems

Salary Range$170000$215000
Your actual level and base salary will be determined casebycase and may vary based on the jobrelated qualification knowledge skills education and experience.
