Fibre Optic Splicer/Technician at Opticomm

We are excited to announce an opportunity for the position of Fibre Optic Splicer/Technician within our Infrastructure & Networks team. This role involves working on a 24x7 rotating roster and is integral to the installation splicing technical support and maintenance of our fibre optic network.

About the Role:

Are you a dedicated Fibre Optic Splicer/Technician with a passion for maintaining and enhancing highperformance fibre optic networks Join our Infrastructure & Networks team at Opticomm and play a pivotal role in ensuring our customers receive reliable and uninterrupted telecommunications services. This fulltime position involves working on a 24x7 rotating roster contributing to the installation splicing technical support and maintenance of our fibre optic network.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oncall 24/7 rotating roster (typically 1 week per month subject to resource availability)
  • Augmentation of existing FTTP networks to provide additional capacity or capability
  • Onsite attendance and restoration of service faults
  • Onsite installation and maintenance of services at residents locations
  • Work with optic fibre infrastructure including installation of communications racks joints/enclosures live network testing and commissioning of optic fibre equipment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve fibre optic network faults promptly and effectively
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outstanding customer service
  • Complete other general siterelated duties as required
  • Drive a safety culture in line with all requirements of the WHS Act and regulations ensuring safe work practices and zero harm
  • Work with Sales Construction and Engineering to implement improved methods productivity and systems to drive field efficiency and productivity improvements
  • Ensure stock levels are maintained inventory is accounted for and warehouse spares are managed accordingly
  • Ensure a culture of quality work accountability and continuous improvement within the field team
  • Carry out other duties or projects as directed by management

Essential Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Field Technician/Fibre Splicer with live cutover experience
  • Proficiency in fusion splicing OTDR testing and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Strong understanding of fibre cable types connectors racks and splice enclosures.
  • Ability to read interpret and comprehend plans scope of work and technical specifications
  • Relevant certifications (Cert III Telecommunications Open Cable Licence with fibre endorsements etc)
  • Valid drivers license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed.
  • Construction White Card
  • Proficient in MS Office
