Job Description

These are temporary positions that support Faculty Affairs priorities. The purpose of these positions is to develop and respect faculty leadership and to extend the capacity of the office.

Goals tasks and deliverables: Fellows and Faculty Affairs staff will agree on a range of goals tasks and deliverables based on the original application priorities and mission and feasibility and both parties will sign a copy of this contract.

  1. Expectations: The Faculty Affairs Fellow for Accessibility will:
    1. Coordinate support and communicate with campuswide Accessibility Ambassadors on key issues and initiatives including the Pilot Accessibility Training
    2. Coordination with Accessible DU: Student Disability Services (SDS); Learning Effectiveness Program (LEP); Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL); and EOIX (Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX)
    3. Participation on the DU Accessibility Council
    4. Contribute to reports the Faculty Affairs newsletter and other campuswide communications to provide updates to community.
    5. Other duties as assigned/needed
  2. Eligibility: open to all fulltime appointed faculty employed by the University of Denver.
  3. Term: each faculty fellow is expected to serve for one calendar year with a possibility of renewal for up to two additional years.
  4. Summer service: Although positions do extend over summer formal meetings and events will be limited outside of the academic year with the exception of a yearly halfday fellow retreat usually held in August.
  5. Selection: Fellows are asked to complete a survey addressing the questions on page 2 by the deadlines posted on Candidates who meet the required qualifications will complete a brief interview with VPFA staff and/or current fellows which will be evaluated using a rubric aligned to the essential functions knowledge skills and abilities; and required/preferred qualifications in the job posting. Their department chair (if applicable) and dean will also need to indicate via email that they approve of the faculty member taking this position.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate support and communicate with campuswide Accessibility Ambassadors on key issues and initiatives including the Pilot Accessibility Training
  • Coordination with Accessible DU: Student Disability Services (SDS); Learning Effectiveness Program (LEP); Office of Teaching and Learning (OTL); and EOIX (Office of Equal Opportunity and Title IX)
  • Participation on the DU Accessibility Council
  • Contribute to reports the Faculty Affairs newsletter and other campuswide communications to provide updates to community.
  • Other duties as assigned/needed

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Skills in organizing faculty work (e.g. committee leadership).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating with offices across campus to support students.

Required Qualifications:

  • Full time DU faculty appointment in any line type and at any rank

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior training in accessibility (e.g. participation in the Neurodiversity Institute).
  • Experience in leading other accessibility efforts or programs either within a unit or across campus

Work Schedule
Term: each faculty fellow is expected to serve for one calendar year with a possibility of renewal for up to two additional years.

Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is UC.

Salary Range:
Stipend of $2500.

The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate departmental budget availability internal salary equity considerations and available market information but not based on a candidates sex or any other protected status.
