Job Responsibilities
- Supervises individuals in custody in accordance with agency rules and standards.
- Observes individuals in custody and reports behavior and reactions to other professional team members.
- Receives ongoing training to develop new and updated skills and improve proficiency in carrying out specialized service delivery programs involving group or individual services to individuals in custody.
- Ensures individuals in custody have access to necessary and appropriate medical services.
- Maintains assigned area in a safe clean and orderly condition.
- Transports and supervises individuals in custody movement to and from destinations inside and/or outside the facility grounds including but not limited to correctional centers court and hospitals.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires successful completion of the Corrections Treatment Officer TrainingProgram.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers working knowledge of behavioral problems and interventions required to foster appropriate behaviors.
- Prefers working knowledge of the nature and treatment of mental illness or developmental disability.
Conditions of Employment
- Requires the physical ability to perform duties assigned.
- Requires a valid appropriate drivers license and an ability to travel statewide.
- Requires ability to carry a firearm.
- Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
- Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized by an employee regardless of the position held is prohibited.
