Job Description

Position Title: Lecturer (Nursing)

Department: Nursing

Campus Location:Washburn University

Position Summary: Washburn Universitys Harmony J. Hines School of Nursing (SON) invites applications for a Lecturer to begin August 1 2025. This is a ninemonth nontenure track appointment as a Lecturer.

Each selected candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to pursuing teaching excellence at Washburn University including a dedication to developing teaching practices that engage students from all backgrounds.

Essential Functions:
Fulfill teaching expectations associated with lecturer nontenuretrack appointment. Teach 12hours per semester (either inperson or online according to departmental needs) or equivalent full workload as outlined in the faculty handbook utilizing an online learning management system.
Teach and develop undergraduate classes and seminars as assigned and as dependent upon department needs which may include classroom clinical and simulation or some combination of classes consistent with the candidates training and interests.
Work with other nursing faculty to plan organize and teach appropriate content in the BSN program that aligns with the AACN Essentials 2021 adheres to the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) requirements and reflects the mission of the SON.
Engage in fair timely and equitable grading of student assignments including evaluation of student performance.
Provide direct oversight of student learning at clinical sites and assist with simulated learning experiences both inperson and utilizing virtual simulation software.
Participate in the advising process with students to support student success.
Fulfill service expectations associated with lecturer nontenuretrack appointment by engaging in service activities in the department university and profession.
This is a ninemonth nontenure track appointment as a Lecturer with possible conversion to tenure track after three years. A completed doctorate is necessary for tenuretrack appointment.
If the position is converted to a tenuretrack appointment and the incumbent is hired into the tenuretrack position the assistant professor will be responsible for fulfilling all expectations associated with a tenuretrack appointment including scholarship and teaching workload as outlined in the faculty handbook.
Perform additional jobrelated duties as assigned or as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
Completed Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN). If not completed at time of application must be completed by September 1 2025.
Licensed in Kansas an an RN by August 2025.
Minimum three years of nursing practice.
Demonstrated dedication to developing teaching practices that engage students from all backgrounds.
Official educational transcripts required at time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:
PhD DNP.
Experience teaching undergraduate nursing education.
Experience with simulation advisement.
Current pattern of service to professional organizations.
