About KOLD:
13 News is a Gray Television station and the CBS affiliate in Tucson Arizona. Job Summary/Description:
Southern Arizonas news leader is looking to fill the most unique position weve ever had are you the answer If you feel that education is an undercovered topic and you wish you had more time to dig into real problems and real solutions you probably *are* the answer! Through the Arizona Media Association and the Arizona Local News Foundation we have funding for one fulltime education solutions* beat reporter. Because of that funding unlike any other beat reporter you will NEVER work on any story that isnt in your beat. Big breaking news that causes an allhandsondeck situation Not you. Staffing shortage Still not you. So if youre someone who really commits really digs and never runs out of ideas on this one topic please apply!
*Education solutions are defined as the continuum of education choices options programs innovations and alternatives throughout our state for all ages in rural and urban areas.
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Develop and pitch unique enterprise education solutions stories daily (see definition above)
write edit and present compelling education solutions stories both solo and with a photographer
Optimize story presentation for each 13 News platform
Participate in daily editorial decisions
Create monthly reports to track story links and progress with funding institutions
Attend quarterly education training/events held by funding institutions
Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelors degree in broadcast journalism or a related field
Selfstarter skills
Strong writing skills and editorial judgment
Ability to and edit on deadline
Strong understanding of digital and social platforms
Clean driving record
Strong oncamera presence
Strong contacts in and experience reporting education stories a plus
