  • Daily Start/End times: 8:00 AM 3:30 PM
  • Anticipated Start Date: ASAP

Responsibilities

  1. Instruct deaf or hard of hearing students in designed instruction setting using sign language skills.
  2. Train the deaf/hard of hearing students in the community using sign language skills.
  3. Instruct deaf/hard of hearing (DID/HH) students in classroom under guidance of the teacher.
  4. Prepare to instruct.
  5. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.
  2. Graduation from an accredited interpreter training program (ITP)with previous experience interpreting in a school setting preferred. Applicants must also demonstrate and pass a skill assessment and interview from the school district. Certification or endorsement from NAD (National Association of the Deaf) RID (Registered Interpreter of the Deaf) or WSRID (Washington State Registered Interpreter of the Deaf) is desired.
  3. 72 quarter or 48 semester credits; AA or BA degree from an accredited college required or pass a rigorous academic assessment (PRAXIS).
  4. Experience with students in a designed instruction setting preferred.
  5. Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  6. Willing to toilet and feed students.
  7. Some computer skills required.
  8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse group of students teachers parents and administrators in a confidential manner.
  9. Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

  2. Stipends Leave Accruals and Holidays Stipends leaves and paid holidays are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement Collective Bargaining Agreementsas negotiated.
