Provides and coordinates nursing care for patients participates in patient and family teaching and provides leadership when working with other health team members to establish and maintain standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting. Participates in unitbased shared leadership activities that improve the quality of care provided to patients and enhance the work environment.

Development & Patient Education
Education:
Graduate of accredited nursing program
BSN degree
Experience:
35 Years Hospital Clinical Experience Preferred
License(s)/Certification(s):
Current licensure in good standing to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa or be licensed in a compact (Nursing) state. Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Advanced Coronary Life Support (ACLS) and PALS certification or obtain within 6 months from hire. Unit specific additional functions will be addressed in the competency checklist specific to the assigned unit. Additional certifications and requirements are unit based.
Must obtain and maintain NIHSS education within 90 days of hire and maintain every 2 years thereafter. Completion of 8 hours of Stroke education prior to the end of orientation and annually.
Valid drivers license when driving any vehicle for workrelated reasons.
CPI/MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behaviors) certified within the first 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment (renewal every 2 years).
