Position Summary
The Department of Earth Sciences at IUPUI invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 1 2023. Candidates are expected to conduct research in Earth Sciences education broadly which may include topics such equity ethics diversity and/or assessment. In the classroom the Assistant Professor is expected to prepare and offer lectures to undergraduate and graduate students maintain office hours design and implement course assessment tools (e.g. quizzes papers etc. and grade these tools. The Assistant Professor is expected to maintain a course site on Canvas communicate with the students and post their grades on time. The Assistant Professor is encouraged to pursue collaborative research and funding opportunities within the department and with other colleagues on campus. Applicants should submit a cover letter curriculum vitae statements of research plans and teaching philosophy and the names and contact information for three references. Basic Qualification Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in the general Earth Sciences. Candidates will be expected teach courses effectively and conduct original research. The IUPUI campus is located near downtown Indianapolis a city that uniquely combines the cultural amenities of urban life with the residential qualities of smaller communities and is highly affordable. As the major center for industry and government within the state Indianapolis has a wide variety of research and training sites.
