Software Engineering Manager Custom LIMS Platform
We are seeking a handson Engineering Manager to lead the development of our Custom Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). This role is central to enhancing lab user experience streamlining laboratory operations and improving patient health.
In this position you will partner closely with Lab Operations and R&D teams treating them as key customers to deliver an intuitive efficient and scalable LIMS platform. You will maintain a nimble engineering team working in a Kanban mode and drive efficiency through a do more with less philosophy. Your role will involve active testing of the software ensuring high performance and usability. Your primary mission is to lead with impact and kindness prioritizing the teams health while balancing business needs.
Lead the design development and maintenance of a custom LIMS platform ensuring seamless support for highthroughput laboratory processes.
Maintain a handson role in software development actively testing the system to improve functionality.
Build and optimize scalable cloudbased microservices and frontend applications to support lab workflows.
Foster a culture of technical excellence with a focus on reliability performance and user experience.
Oversee CI/CD pipeline implementation and ensure quality through automated testing strategies.
Ensure optimal architecture and infrastructure for system scalability and costeffectiveness.
Act as a bridge between engineering and lab users gathering realtime feedback to continuously refine the LIMS system.
Establish strong relationships with Lab Operations R&D teams and internal stakeholders ensuring their needs are prioritized in system enhancements.
Maintain an iterative Kanbanbased workflow adapting to evolving lab needs efficiently.
Guide and mentor a small but agile incredible engineering team ensuring continuous technical and professional growth.
Manage development priorities deadlines and resources while maintaining technical excellence.
Encourage an ownership mindset ensuring engineers feel responsible for delivering impactful solutions.
Drive continuous improvement in development processes to maximize efficiency with minimal overhead.
Implement best practices in software development emphasizing modular architecture and cloudnative design.
Monitor system performance troubleshoot issues and proactively enhance platform stability and reliability.
10 years of experience developing software applications.
Proven ability to lead and manage highperformance engineering teams.
Expertise in Python Typescript and React with strong frontend development skills (React preferred).
Proficiency in AWS services (Lambda RDS DynamoDB S3 Glue) and infrastructure as code.
Strong relational database (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and SQL programming skills.
Experience implementing messaging frameworks like Kafka.
Excellent problemsolving and analytical skills with a quality assurance mindset.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to bridge technical and nontechnical discussions.
Experience building custom LIMS/LES systems.
Located in Austin TX to engage directly with lab operations and collect live user feedback.
